It has been about thirty years since I stepped into the world of IT. Today, a digital society beyond what we once imagined has taken shape, dramatically transforming how we live and do business. But can we truly say that IT has become both “convenient” and “safe”? Having spent many years in this industry, I have often faced realities that make me hesitate to answer yes.

Consider the burdens of managing complex IDs and passwords, the endless stream of spam, and the continual reports of data breaches. These problems have existed for decades, and despite the discomfort and anxiety they cause, fundamental solutions remain elusive. In the shadow of IT’s rapid progress, such unresolved issues have sometimes been accepted as “just the way things are.” We believe it is precisely these long-standing challenges that deserve our focus and steady, persistent improvement.

As people engaged in the advancement and adoption of IT, we aim to uncover overlooked problems, address them sincerely one by one, and move forward—if only step by step—yet surely. That is our mission. We will continue to work tirelessly toward a digital society that is more convenient and, above all, more trustworthy.

Born in Hachinohe, Aomori. Graduated from Chuo University (Faculty of Commerce). After joining Yamaichi Securities, he moved within six months to a small IT venture, working as both sales and engineer on in-house systems for Microsoft Japan and Dell Japan. Following roles at a foreign IT company and at NRI Data Service (now Nomura Research Institute) in business development, he founded GumpNetworks Corp. in 2005.
